Career Description
A facility manager/supervisor oversees all activities and staff in an animal facility. They establish and maintain a high standard of animal husbandry while ensuring a smooth-running animal facility, including a stable lab environment, proper functioning of equipment, appropriate levels of supplies, and environmental monitoring. They hire, develop, manage and appraise the animal facility staff.

Academic Requirements
Most facility managers or supervisors have a bachelor’s in biological sciences and a minimum of five years experience in animal husbandry. Previous supervisory experience in an animal facility normally is required.
