Epidemiologist
Career Description
Epidemiologists study the distribution of disease, assess risk factors for disease in human populations and design public health policies to address risk factors. They can work as generalists or specialize in a wide range of areas, including environmental, behavioral and chronic disease epidemiology.

Academic Requirements
Epidemiologists obtain an undergraduate degree from an accredited undergraduate college or university followed by a master’s or doctorate degree in public health. Many epidemiologists obtain dual degrees in public health and medicine, nursing or other health professional fields.
